how it began

In 2021, I came across an acrylic pour video online (anyone else remember the #endlessscroll of the early pandemic?) and thought — ohhhhh, I gotta try that.

I rummaged in the dark corners of the kids’ closet, pretty sure that we had a dusty bag of acrylic paint tubes from some birthday party activity, and gave it a go on the kitchen table.

Instantly I was hooked. No fancy art degrees here - just pure fascination and love and following every bit of curiosity and interest that’s shown up since. This has led me along a journey from Dutch pours to abstracts on paper to abstracts on canvas and now - to stretching my own canvases and building my own frames. Where will it take me next?

What i believe

All humans are creative. It’s in there - in our hearts or guts or wherever creativity lives in us - waiting for us to try enough stuff to find the right thing.

I’ve been a photographer for over a decade, and what I’ve noticed in my creative journey is that different mediums give me different things. I had no idea I was ‘missing’ anything before I started painting - but wow, when it arrived… I can’t imagine life without it.

I’d love to share more about what I’m noticing and learning in this journey, and if any of that helps you on your creative journey - what a thing to celebrate!
