As I celebrate my 10th anniversary living in Denver this month (WOW!), I’ve been reflecting on all the awesome photo locations we’ve discovered over the years. Mountain vistas, red rocks, streams and lakes - just nonstop beautiful scenery.

This fall, I’m thinking about these photo locations through a different lens:

How accessible are they?

Over the summer, my dear friends had their lives changed forever after a terrible car collision. Our friend will use a wheelchair in our next session, so it’s important to ensure that our location is beautiful and accessible.

So here are 5 ADA-compliant photo locations in and around Denver:

  1. Denver Botanic Gardens 🌸
Located at the heart of the city, these gardens offer an enchanting blend of native plants, vibrant flowers, and serene water features. The pathways are broad, flat, and wheelchair accessible, ensuring that everyone gets their dream shot surrounded by nature's bloom.

  2. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre ⛰
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Aren’t those famous stairs a bit challenging?" True, the amphitheatre does have those iconic steps, but the park offers ADA-compliant parking and viewing areas which present a breathtaking panorama of the rock formations and the city beyond. Sunset photos here? Magical!

  3. Confluence Park 🏞
Where the Cherry Creek and the South Platte River meet, this urban park offers families a delightful waterfront experience right in the city's center. The park's trails and bridges are ADA-compliant, and the merging waters provide a serene background for photos.

  4. City Park 🌳
Featuring the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, City Park has a lake and lovely green stretches. It's a brilliant place to capture the city skyline with the Rockies in the backdrop. The park's pathways are broad and well-maintained, making it a breezy spot for everyone.

  5. Belmar Park in Lakewood 🦆
A short drive from Denver, this park boasts a picturesque lake surrounded by trails and greenery. It's an oasis of calm and a wonderful place for a family picnic. With its accessible pathways, families can capture memories with the shimmering water or the resident ducks as a backdrop.

Every family deserves frame-worthy moments, regardless of mobility. I'm grateful that Denver and its surroundings have such inclusive spots that don't compromise on beauty. So grab your camera, gather your loved ones, and start making memories!
