Beginnings
And here we go! I can't wait to begin this new chapter.
After getting my camera in January, I've been teaching myself how to create photographs. Needless to say - I'm hooked!
Starting with this book and this book, I began learning and experimenting. I quickly outgrew the "read a book and absorb it" strategy. I realized I needed some real-life tutoring.
In a perfect example of serendipity, Alan and I wandered into a camera store next to our normal grocery store. I'd never noticed the store before, since there was never a reason to notice it. When we walked in, I ended up talking to the owner of Wilson Camera, and sure enough: they were just about to host one of their Bi-Annual Photography Workshops, and I was able to get a deal through Groupon for about 75% off. Amazing!
While continuing my practice, I decided to take it a step further: a Summer I session of Photography 142 at Mesa Community College. While the full-time work schedule and the 4 hr a day, 4 day a week classes are kicking my energy levels in the face, it's totally worth it. I've learned so much and had a fantastic opportunity to meet others interested in the same field.
So here we are. I'm ready to explore photography further, and I invite you on the journey with me.
So: how did it all start?

Beginning is not only a kind of action. It is also a frame of mind, a kind of work,
an attitude, a consciousness.
