“To be pregnant is to be vitally alive, thoroughly woman, and distressingly inhabited. Soul and spirit are stretched – along with body – making pregnancy a time of transition, growth, and profound beginnings.” – Anne Christian Buchanan
My friend Krystal is an amazing mama, and a constant reminder to me how important it is to be honest, open, and put myself out there. I met her in a public park when our boys were about 18 mo old... and when I saw how well our kiddos were playing together and how we clicked during our "just met you at the park" small talk, I scratched up the courage to ask her for her phone number. When I was younger, I might have thought about "we might be friends!" but I would have been too nervous or shy to actually DO anything about it. I'm so glad that I put myself out there, because two years later we're still friends and it's been wonderful to get to know her and her darling family better.
Krystal is expecting her second kiddo in a few weeks (another boy, yay!) and I was lucky enough to meet with her to capture some memories of this amazing time. We met at beautiful Sterne Park in Littleton for this family & maternity photo session, which gave us a pretty walk around the pond and gave big brother Rainn a chance to play while we laughed and giggled and honored this newest baby.
So, why maternity photos? In my experience, pregnancy is pretty cool - but the second one FLEW by for me, and seemed like even MORE of a blur when trying to take care of the oldest one! What do you think, Krystal?
So wonderful to have these images to remember this fleeting & magical time.
“You are pregnant and you are powerful. You are bold and you are beautiful. Go forward in your boldness, in your beauty and in your contentedness. Trust your body to birth and know that the collective power of women worldwide will be with you.”
